Mrs. Mahala Durham Stone, widow of Leroy D.. Stone, formerly of this place, died at her home near West Baden, Oct 31. Funeral services were held at Ames Chapel, Nov 2. She is survived by 5 sons, 23 grandchildren, two bro and two sis. She was the eldest daughter of Jeremiah and Minerva Walker Durham, and was born on the Cornelius Demaree farm 81 years ago. Mr. Stone was a cabinet maker and carried on his trade in Waveland with his brother, Leander Dow Stone, who is also dead. Mrs. Cora R. Hanna, the widow of Joseph Hanna is a sister of Mrs. Stone and was with her at the time of her death, which followed an illness of only two weeks. -- kbz
